General Care
Succulent plants are adapted by nature to take up moisture quickly and store it over long periods so:
THEY DO NEED WATER!
Like all houseplants (and that is all they are) they need regular attention, re-potting and checking for pests or disease. They will not survive long periods of cold, especially if it is damp, so in winter keep them fairly dry and frost free.
Most cacti and many succulents prefer full sun, although forest cacti (such as Christmas cactus) would do better in a shady or broken light situation. Mature cacti will thrive in conservatory locations, where the average houseplant would fail.
Desert cacti need less water than forest cacti and succulents on the whole, but this is a broad rule. We suggest at least once a week during the growing season (March through October). If in doubt, DON'T WATER! During winter, little or no water should be given. Water either from above or below, but never let plants stand in water for more than an hour. Apply a regular feed throughout the season. We recommend CHC feed for them all, which we market.
Drainage in your compost is essential, so we recommend our CHC compost, tried and tested by us.
